Responding to the existing building fabric, CK Architecture designed the new fit-out for not-for-profit organisation Relationships Australia, to work seamlessly within complex constraints. With a brief that focussed on the client’s wellbeing and emotional health, the need for a welcoming, comfortable space was essential.
Carefully curated materials and colours were chosen across a natural and warm palette to create a calm atmosphere for the clients. Care was taken to provide various zones for people to wait while not sitting directly facing other clients. Strategic spatial planning allows for different spaces within the relatively compact reception area.
Plywood detailing is used for warmth throughout, while bold green and blue details are splashed in the children’s area and in soft furnishings. Changes in carpet colour and texture mark zones while also allowing for an unconscious barrier for the client’s privacy.
